I was unhappy with Optus, so i decided to vote with my wallet. We are now completely off Optus equipment - no local phone, no mobile, and ( as of now ) no internet ( port ).
I am slightly annoyed with Internode's call centre sales team response times though. I raced home as soon as i could and rang Internode Sales to get the new telstra port actioned -- this is not a typical new connection, i wanted to keep my existing username on the new account, cancel the old account as it is 100% offline, and get dialup access for the interim wait. Spend 40 minutes on hold -- then took the callback feature -- and i did not hold my breath considering Sales close at 6pm.
So i did the next best thing. I scoured my old junk and found an old pci modem card, installed it, went over friends place and got the Internode dialup pop number ( for me it was 0198 331 337 ) and wallah, i'm online -- albeit via my now old account that i could not get through to disconnect.
E-mail to Internode Accounts time, me thinks..
BTW, if you have not figured it out yet, i get Internet withdrawals if i do not get my daily fix. ;-)
